By delegation principle one understands the principle for delivering with a designation, a task allocation or a casting of votes also the power of decision for the associated range.

  • In the policy the selecting (delegated) receives not only the voice of the voter but also the political power of decision. Contrast is the representation principle.
  • In enterprises the coworker or the organizational unit with firm fields of application receives the authority necessary for it.
  • The term is transferable into the range of object-oriented programming. Here the contrast is the leaving principle.

The letztliche responsibility is not delegatable and remains during the delegation, i.e. the voter or the management. To that extent observing and controlling must take place despite delegation principle.
