Detlev Ganten made training as the agricultural assistant in Elmshorn, which he locked 1959. Afterwards it studied medicine in peppering castle from 1962 to 1964 and made here 1964 its Physikum. From 1973 to 1991 Detlev Ganten worked on Pharmakologi Institut of the University of Heidelberg and habilitierte there 1974. In the year 1975 it received a Professur in Heidelberg and since 1978 is likewise it a specialist for pharmacology and clinical pharmacology.

Forschungsgebiete and honors

The Forschungsgebiete of Detlev Ganten lie particularly in the study of the causes of blood high pressure. It cleared fundamental mechanisms up of the emergence of blood high pressure and is particularly concerned with the hormonalen regularization and treatment of blood high pressure, the Renin Angiotensin system and the molecular genetics of heart cycle illnesses. For its work it kept a set of honors, so to 1981 the "Chavez Award" that international Society OF Hypertension, the "Sechenev medal" of the medical academy Moscow and the "science price" of the German league for the fight of the high blood pressure. 1990 followed the "Heilmeyer medal" the society for progress on the area of the internal medicine as well as the Max-Planck research price and the Okamoto price in Japan. 1992 got Detlev Ganten the CIBA price of the Council for High Blood Pressure Research of the American Heart Association and since 1995 are it an honour doctor of the University of Iasi in Romania. The Order of Merit followed in the year 2000 and since 2003 is it knight of the Ehrenlegion of the French republic.

Memberships

Detlev Ganten is member of the academy of the sciences Heidelberg as well as the German academy of the natural scientists Leopoldina, Academia Europea and the Polish academy of the sciences (Polska Akademia Umiejetnosci). From 1992 to 1998 he was a president of the World Hypertension League, in addition from 1992 to 1997 health research advice and from 1993 to 1998 science advice. Further Detlev Ganten from 1996 was to 1998 president of the society of German natural scientists and physicians from 1997 to 2001 of chairmen of the Hermann of Helmholtz community of German research centers and since 2003 is it vice-president of the Hermann of Helmholtz community of German research centers. Since 2001 it is member in the national ethics advice and since 2003 vice-president Berlin Brandenburgi Academy of Sciences as well as since 2004 also president internationally D' orientation scientifique et (COSS) of the de France.
