Director and a professor is an office designation in Germany for officials at research establishments or authorities with own research range. They are classified into the salary brackets B 1, B 2 and B 3. Authority leaders receive an extra pay.

Of it to differentiate the office designation is "“director of museum and a professor"”, which gives it under Federal law in the salary bracket to A 16 and nationallegally also still in higher salary bracket than leaders of museums or departments in museums.

Furthermore it still gives the designation to director and professor with authority additives (e.g. Director and professor of the Federal Institution for hydraulic engineering). These lead then the authority, at large authorities read the designation then president and professor (e.g. President and professor of the Federal Institution for roads). Both are classified under higher salary brackets. The designation without additive used concerns it however department managers
