DLM document life cycle management (English document Lifecycle management) generally designates the support of the complete life cycle of documents of its emergence over use, storage, archiving and expenditure up to the disposal by information life cycle management, document management or Enterprise content management systems.

The acronym DLM for document Lifecycle management is at the same time name giver of the DLM forum initiative of the European commission. The DLM forum is the union of European national archives and other archives, which want to guarantee the opening of archives for an open ACCESS and long-term availability. The DLM forum promoted with European Union means gives out as well as organized studies and codes to OF Best Practice regularly international conferences. The DLM forum published among other things the MoReq standard (Model requirement), that meta data and functionality of record management solutions for Europe defined. Carrier of the DLM forum is the DLM network EEIG.
