Decision criteria

In the the people picture of the rational Entscheiders (Homo Oeconomicus) is sketched, which is clearly aware of its preferences, and with each decision tries its use to maximize. The theory of the rational decision was criticized however because of their acceptance. Thus the restaurant subjects do not have usually the complete information over all potential decision relevant factors.

The theory limits rational decisions extended here the model frameworks, by this in the knowledge and in the data processing are also included. Apart from self-interest decisions can be determined in addition, by other value systems such as Altruismus, ethical values or emotions.

Therefore decisions are often disputed, since everyone occupies the remaining uncertainty with other acceptance.

Decision procedure

The most important rule to cases of decisions is that the decision falls all the easier, the smaller the uncertainty actual each decision falls more easily, if more information to the decision need is present.

In the decision theory methods e.g. become like the simple efficiency analysis (NWA) or the more precise Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to be used, with that criteria in the sense by criteria and alternatives in the sense by proposals for solution be represented, compared and evaluated, in order to find the optimal solution to a decision or a problem definition.

Decisions can be made also by accident, like for example the Lotterielos.

Medical diagnosis

In the medicine a physician in a diagnosis decides available symptoms due to for one of if necessary several possible diseases and supports treatment off by this diagnostic decision. The diagnostic decision has here often the character of a hypothesis. If the patient does not respond to the treatment, other hypotheses must examined and if necessary the diagnostic decision to be revised.

Other decisions

In the iurisdiction decisions are certain verdicts (see resolution and judgement). With the sport the decisions of the arbitrator count as indisputable for the time of the play (fact decision).

Quotation

If there are for the alternatives equal good arguments, one can let the coincidence decide. - Werner Winkler (problems fast and simply loosen, ISBN 3636070010, P. 137)
