Eastern period one calls the time in the Central European garden architecture between 1560 and 1620. To this time of the Renaissance particularly many, usually exotic ornamental plants were introduced, in order to arrange thereby gardens and park plants. Played a special role thereby tulips, hyacinths and narcissuses, which were introduced from southern and southeast Europe to Central Europe.

The first tulip probably arrived in the year 1554 in the luggage of a Habsburger Diplomatens from Konstantinopel to Vienna. This plant found spreading very fast. Already 1559 maintained an Augsburger buyer in its garden tulips. A special role in the spreading above all the tulip comes however to the Botaniker Carolus Clusius, which planted as a director of the Botani garden in Dutch suffering tulip bulb and would send tulip bulb at its letter partners in completely Europe. Already into the 1610er years came it into France to a first speculation wave with tulips. Their high point reached the Tulpenmanie however after the end of the eastern period. From 1632 to 1637 tulips were the most in demand object of speculation.
