Edward Francis was an US-American physician.
Francis studied medicine at Ohio State University and at the University OF Cincinnati, where he locked his study 1897. Starting from 1900 he was a bacteriologist and public health specialist at the US authority for the public health service, which he led from 1920 to 1938. It researched particularly in the area of the infections.
Francis described 1921 the exciter Francisella designated after it tularensis the infection which he examined in detail and described. It got sick also even with the illness.
