Elmer Ambrose SPERRY (* 12 October 1860 in Cortland, New York; "† 16 June 1930 in Brooklyn, New York) was an US-American inventor and businessman.

1880 it created the SPERRY Electric company, which concerns itself with the production of generators and arc lamps in Chicago.

Elmer SPERRY created 1910 the SPERRY corporation and applies beside Hermann of fights as one the developer of the first usable gyroscope compasses. Its gyroscope compass was used for the first time 1911 by the US Navy. Altogether it received 360 patents in a far technical area.

Its son Lawrence SPERRY busy itself likewise with the gyroscope compass technology.
