Elvin Morton Jellinek (* 15 August 1890 in New York, N.Y., "† 22 October 1963 in Stanford) was an US-American physiologist and researcher of the alcohol illness.

Jellinek was one the first researcher, who recognized the disease character of the alcoholism. To it the today still common classification of persons with alcohol problems decreases/goes back after 5 categories from alpha to Epsilon. The drinking behavior of so-called alpha and beta drunkards he called preliminary stage of the alcohol illness, delta and Epsilon drunkard designated he as alcohol ill.
