Emil lux studied Vienna at the university for economics and attained a doctorate in economic science at the university to Cologne. 1945 it became with the work "“Bulgaria there as market for production goods: A structural sales market investigation with special consideration of the export of German tools"” attains a doctorate.

It entered into the tool enterprise LUX created by its father. After a USA stay it brought the idea of a do-it-yourself enthusiast market to 1954 also. With these ideas he develops LUX substantially. Together with Manfred mouse it created 1970 the OBI of building and do-it-yourself enthusiast markets, one of the largest building market enterprises of Germany with in the meantime over 500 locations in 11 countries (conditions 2005).

1974 he was founder of the "“Grid internationally Germany"”, a subsidiary company of an US-American enterprise, which specialized in professional training and organizational development. Lux was trailer of knowledge transfer and further training.

With the Marianne and Emil lux donation he was particularly in social commitments active.
