The roots of ENAER are already in the year 1930, at that time still under the name Maestranza cent ral de de la Fuerza Nacional. Major task was maintenance of the national airplanes.

The ENAER became to 16. March 1984 as part of the Chilean Air Force subject based. Despite its national origins she works as autonomous airplane manufacturers. It is the only aircraft factory in Chile. The major tasks of ENAER are the development of own military and civilian types of aircraft, the production of airplane parts and maintenance of airplanes. She co-operates thereby closely with the Spanish airplane manufacturer CASA.

Aircraft construction

The ENAER developed a set of own airplanes, as well as airplanes of foreign manufacturers modifies:

• Enaer T-35 a single-engine training airplane
• Enaer Eaglet, single-engine training and passenger aircraft
• Enaer Pantera, jet military plane on basis of the Israeli I.A.I. Kfir, a Mirage 50-Variante

Momentarily the Chilean Air Force replaces its old training airplanes Beechcraft T-34 Mentor by the more modern Enaer T-35

The Enaer T-35 is a very successful export model and in many south and Central American countries is exported. To this countries belong to El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, Paraguay and the Dominican republic, as well as in Europe Spain. Their machines let a whole set of countries wait and/or modify with ENAER, for example the Air Force of Uruguay.

Co-operation with foreign manufacturers

Chile co-operates closely with the Spanish and Israeli aircraft industry. The Chilean Air Force uses a set of CASA types. ENAER manufactures parts of the CASA types CASA C 235 and CASA C 295.

With Israel mainly airplanes are copied of the type F-5E tiger III.

Within the civilian range ENAER airplanes of the type Boeing 737 waits.
