The energy summit is a political meeting between the German Federal Government and representatives/inside the German energy industry. First such summits took place on 3 April 2006 in Berlin. A further meeting is to follow in the autumn 2006. A goal of the energy summit is it to compile until 2007 a national energy-political total concept.
In the context of the first summit indicated the participation their planned investments in the energy sector until 2012. Therefore 30 billion euro are to be invested and in the range of the renewable energies up to 40 billion euro in the current sector in the conventional range. Together with investments in the warming and fuel range the industry of the renewable ones thereby plans to realize expenditures over 71 billion euro. At the same time the energy efficiency is to be promoted. For the building reorganization 1.4 billion euro is made available annually for this by the Federal Government, and the Federal Funds for energy research are to be supplemented until 2009 around at least 30%. These data are to a large extent already before the energy summit admit been.
Remarkably at the first energy summit particularly it was that beside envoys of the conventional current economy also representatives/inside the renewable energies were present. This was rated as indication that Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel did not want to set in the future on one side on fossil and nuclear energy.
Already in the autumn 2004 the Federal Chancellor at that time Gerhard had an energy summit due to risen electricity tariffs planned, at that time only with representative/inside the conventional current industry. The meeting took place according to data of the government due to too far apart lying interests of the participants involved however never.
