Ernst Kretschmer (* 8 October 1888 in desert red with Heilbronn; "† 8 February 1964 in Professor Dr. med. Dr. phil. h.c., was a German psychiatrist, investigated the human constitution and set up a typology.

Life

He was pupil of the High School CAN place, one of the oldest latin schools of Stuttgart (in the meantime Johannes Kepler High School).

1906-1912 it studied theology, medicine and philosophy in Munich and Hamburg. Starting from 1913 he was an assistant of Robert Gaupp in with him habilitierte he 1918 and worked afterwards until 1926 as an upper physician. Starting from 1926 he was a director of the university mental hospital in Marburg.

Between 1915 and 1921 Kretschmer developed a method to the differential diagnosis of schizophrenia and manischer depression.

Starting from 1926 it cooperated intensively in the structure "„of the general medical society for Psychotherapie where it became 1927 also member of the board and establishment general one medical society for Psychotherapie .

In the worked it in addition starting from 1928 as a publisher of the federation magazine "„general medical magazine for Psychotherapie and psychological hygiene for the history of the federation magazine and of 1929 -1933 as their president.

On 6 April 1933 Ernst Kretschmer of the presidency for political reasons back-temporally arranged history of the Psychotherapie, laws and regulations steps into Germany. After the war he is starting from 1946 a director of the university mental hospital in

1940 described Kretschmer as the first the apallische syndrome (awake coma).
