Ernst Leberecht Wagner (* 12. March 1829 in Dehlitz/Saale; "† 10 February 1888 in Leipzig) was a German pathologist and physician.

Life

After the study to the medicine in Leipzig, Vienna and Prague Wagner attained a doctorate 1852. To its most influential teachers Johann knights of Oppholzer and Carl Reinhold August Wunderlich belonged. After the Habilitation 1855 it became 1860 extraordinary professor and 1862 tidy professor of the general pathology and pathological anatomy at the University of Leipzig. In the year 1877 he became successor Wunderlichs after its death on the chair for special pathology and therapy and transferred at the same time the management of the medical hospital to Leipzig. In this function as a director he was appointed the secret Medizinalrat and remained active up to its death in Leipzig.

Achievements

Among its special scientific achievements the discovery of the Fettembolie in the lung containers ranked, in addition it made itself with various pathohistologischen investigations and proofs a name. Large services it rendered around the promotion of the scientific efforts of the Leipziger of physicians as chairmen of many years of the physician association and the Leipziger of medical service. In addition it drew up "„archives for medicine "“from 1860-1878.
