Ernst Zimmermann (* 7. March 1929; "† 1 February 1985 in Gauting with Munich) was chairman of the board of the engine and engine union (MTU) and chairmen of the Federal association of German air and space industry registered association (BDLI).

Ernst Zimmermann became victim of an assassination attempt of itself as "„command Patsy O'Hara "“characteristic terrorist of the Red Army parliamentary group. A Terroristin camouflaged as Briefbotin gave, Carpenter had to confirm the receipt of a letter with signature, and by Mrs. Zimmermann into the Gautinger dwelling of the Carpenters was asked. A young man with submachine gun was added, the two terrorists bound the married couple Carpenter and murdered Ernst Zimmermann with a put on shot into the back of the head. The assassins, who did not leave usable traces, could not be identified until today.
