Erwin Ringel (* 27 April 1921 in Romania; " 28 July 1994 in bath Kleinkirchheim, was a Austrian physician and representative of the individual psychology.
Ringel was a specialist for psychiatry and neurology and an authority in the suicide research (today one would speak more neutrally of self selfresearchself research). Erwin Ringel developed 1948 that world-wide first suicide preventing center in Vienna. 1954 he became director/conductor of the woman-psychiatric station in Vienna and created here the first psychosomatische station in Austria.
1960 became Ringel president by it in the life called international combination for suicide preventing. 1961 he became a chairman of the Austrian society for individual psychology.
1971 it was initial member of the international Kollegiums for Psychosomatik. 1978 he became a first president of the again created Austrian society for clinical psychosomatische medicine.
From 1981 to 1991 it held the first chair for medical psychology at the University of Vienna.
