The establishment ratio indicates the number of operating establishments related to the population of the employable age. Are meant private firms in addition, societies and other companies. This indicator is to help the establishment behavior from national economies to to compare. In Austria it also occurs that the chamber of economics (interest agency of the enterprises and independent ones) the establishment ratio related to its active members computed (see example below). Sometimes by the establishment ratio also the indication of the reestablishments per 1000-Einwohner is understood. With a land comparison must be clear, which calculation method for the establishment ratio was consulted.

Establishment ratio Germany 2004:2,0% (number of founders related to the employable age)

Establishment ratio Austria 2004:8,3% (establishments in per cent of the active chamber of economics members)
