Eudoxos of kneeling DOS (* 410 or 408 v. Chr. ; "† 355 or 347 v. Chr.) was a Greek mathematician, astronomer, a geographer and a physician.

He was pupil of the Archytas and had with Platon close scientific contacts. Its main achievements existed in the structure also surds of comprehensive size teachings as well as in a strict derivation of the sentences over volume regulations, furnished by indirect proof, not even-laminar limited body; the late Exhaustionsmethode so mentioned after an idea of anti-phons. This method is also with Archimedes. In particular it determined the volume of the pyramid and the cone. These results are received into the books V and XII of the "“elements"” of the Euklid. It was thereby one of the most important mathematicians 4. of the pre-Christian century.

As an astronomer it tried to represent the movement of the heavenly bodies by a system of rotary spheres. As a geographer it is to have computed among other things the extent of the spherically thought earth approximate. Further it set up principles for the determination of the geographical place. Its star map used Aratos of Soloi.
