EXA is series of simple mirror reflex cameras from the Ihagee work in Dresden, which 1936 with the famous" Kine Exakta "manufactured the first small picture mirror reflex camera of the world.
The EXA cameras are full-mechanical and very durable cameras. Production began 1950 with the model" Rhine metal "and ended 1990, it nearly 1 million EXA was manufactured. The sister model with high order was the" Varex "of the series EXAKTA. While to 1973 without the production of the EXAKTA in favor of the more modern Praktica series one did - last model was the" RTL 1000 "(with interior photometry TTL) - represented the EXA models to 1990 the entrance models of ambitionierter amateur photographers in the GDR.
Contrary to the" RTL 1000 ", whose problems could be never repaired like the not functioning interior photometry, EXA cameras were always reliable. Also by production for many decades sufficient accessories were available. There were the models EXA 0, 1, 1a, 1b and 1c.
The early models from and the 60's 50's had high equipment with change prism, changeable Mattsucherscheiben and/or Fresnel lenses, which are to be found until today only within the range of the professional technology. This did not apply unfortunately to the simple cloth catch, which was unsuitable with a minimum Verschlusszeit of only 1/175 s for photographing fast movements. The EXA was operated with light pit or prism.
