Express shipment was in Germany a form of the transport of goods with the course.

Express shipment was carried - like the luggage - in passenger trains. Thus a rapid and to a large extent flatable dispatch was possible to the receiver. In contrast to it bulk in goods trains was carried.

When express shipment were accepted all articles, which were suitable after kind, weight and packing for the taking along in the luggage trolleys carried in the passenger trains.

Express shipment was accepted during the entire service of the stations, on larger stations at the luggage switch, on smaller stations at the general Fahrkartenschalter.

For the computation of the freight charges the railway administration in the course books and timetables published special Frachttafeln.

For rationalization reasons the luggage trolleys in the passenger trains were void, in addition the residence time on the stations, necessary for the loading and unloading, was hinderlich for the timetable organization of the Epressgutverkehr therefore was adjusted.
