Eyelid stands for Light Weight documentation OF Experiences and is a model for systematic software process improvement. It was developed in software the Experience center by DaimlerChrysler. With this beginning the experiences of the members are gained and documented by software projects directly after their end, in order to be able to reuse it in other projects.

Contrary to heavyweightier beginnings like the Experience cousin and the Capability Maturity Model the expenditure is regarded consciously low as the documentation of experiences here. The procedure is neither technically nor financially It needs also no expensive tools. Generally report the project members gladly on their acts, so that the additional expenditure usually not when load is felt.

Proceed

  1. After the project the participants with a check list are asked, which ran in the project well and where they see possibilities for improvement.
  2. Together with the participants a history with the realizations is then noted to the project on few sides.
  3. Then the most important artifacts of the project, which could be useful for other projects perhaps, are collected. That can do e.g. Specifications as examples, collecting mains, check lists, UML diagrams, architectures or other documents its.
  4. Afterwards the collected documents into a listing and history come above as covers drauf.

Conditions

  • The project may not be to long. With 3 monthly projects good experiences could be won.
  • The documentation must take place briskly directly after the project end, since otherwise much comes into oblivion.
