The Federal Law bar association (BRAK) is the controlling body of the 27 regional bars and the bar at the Federal High Court (BGH). Members are therefore only the chambers mentioned and not the individual attorneys. The Federal Law bar association is one in accordance with "§"§ 175 FF. Federal Law lawyer order (BRAO) established body of the public right. It has its seat in Berlin. The legal supervision is incumbent on the Federal Ministry of the law.

The Federal Law bar association represents the occupation-political interests that at present on federal level (March 2004) approx. 126,800 woman barristers and attorneys.

Administration

The statute meeting of the Federal Law bar association is quasi the parliament of the bar and has the task to issue and update the occupation order for attorneys as statute.

The resolutions of the statute meeting are conveyed to the Federal Ministry of the law. This examines the decided statute and can this or parts of the statute waive. This happens not, comes into force the decided statute three months after transmission to the Federal Ministry of the law.
