The Federal law over the data security (DSG) is the data protection act of Switzerland. The current law is from 19 June 1992 and on 3 October 2000 was last changed.

Control of the adherence to the legal regulations is incumbent on the Swiss federal commisioner for data protection, whose legal status and tasks are regulated in the fifth section of the law.
