The federation of the Prussian districts was as local central association from 1916 to 1933 of existing freiwilliger union of the districts in Prussia. It was created on 8 September 1916 in the building of the Prussian federal state parliament in Berlin and took up in January 1917 its activity from Berlin. One month after the establishment members already were over 70% of all Prussian circles. On suggestion of the federation in November 1923 the federation of German districts (since 1924 German district day) was created, whose regional organization became he and which was led in personnel union by the executive committee of the federation of the Prussian districts.

After the Reichsexekution against Prussia (Prussia impact) on 20 July 1932 the work of the federation was almost impossible, it finally became together with the German district day by the law over the German municipality day from 15 December 1933 (RGBl. 1, S. 1065ff.) in the course of synchronising dissolved.
