In the context of the E-Government-initiative federation-on-line 2005 the authorities of the federation in Germany began in the year 2000 to place all Internetable services of the federal administration on-line. The leadership of the project has the Federal Ministry of the inside, the central co-ordination is incumbent on the project group federation-on-line. Under their line approximately 100 federal authorities revised their administrative processes within five years and made their services available in the Internet.

Of Europe largest E-Government-initiative with the saving of costs and increase the efficiency of the state is to help the Federal Budget. Citizens, economics and administrations are to be able to take the services up of the federal administration more simply, faster and more economically.

Also conditions from 31 December 2005 are 440 information, communication and transaction services of the federation in the Internet. They are attainable both over the Internet sides of the respective authority, and over bund.de, the central administrative portal of the federation. It offers an entrance to the Internet appearances of over 800 authorities and mechanisms of the federation and over 3.100 topic and service on the left of.

Since 3 November 2005 is informed by the portal bund.de about approximately 100 E-Government-offers to the topic security. The Microsite of the service portal offers information about the protection of lives, health and personal rights as well as for internal and outside security. Besides assistance for the precaution and the protection from threats are given and references to the behavior in the danger case.

A substantial task of federation-on-line is the standardisation of applications. A goal is the avoidance of cost-intensive and time-consuming Parallelentwicklungen, the Sicherstellung of the compatibility of the individual systems as well as the independence from software producers. At the beginning of the initiative therefore with the standards and architectures for E-Government-applications the technical standards and the integration principles for the initiative were prepared. SAGA was fundamental for most federation on-line projects and promotes the development of interoperable E-Government to Germany.

The results obtained by federation-on-line are brought by the federation into the common eGovernment strategy of federation, countries and municipalities Germany-on-line.
