Ferdinand August Schmidt (* 1852 in Bonn; "† 1929 in Bonn) were a German physician and sport physician.

After the study and graduation at the Bonn university he created 1882 "„the association for hygiene in people and school "“.

Starting from 1882 he was a chairman Bonn turn association. it united about 30 Bonn sport associations in "„the combination of Bonn turn and sport associations to 1908 "“. Particularly it stepped out as large promoters of the school doing gymnastics.

Likewise he was founder and first chairmen of the West German play federation.

It was invited at home and abroad to lectures and inspection of new turn places or turn systems, so 1899 for example to Sweden and 1904 to America. 1926 he was appointed the honour citizen of the city Bonn.

Its grave is on the old person cemetery in Bonn.
