The terms Filmwirtschaft and film industry designate that industry, which concerns itself with the production, duplication and the selling of cinema, television and other films.

The term film industry is contentwise actually wrong, since it does not concern or only to small parts industry. It has its origin in the English wrong friend film industry, which translates correctly Filmbranche is called. It is more frequently used nevertheless than the contentwise more fitting terms Filmwirtschaft or Filmbranche.
