The 1. Morocco crisis (1905-1906) developed, after the conclusion of an alliance between France and Great Britain secured the French influence in Morocco (Sudan contract).

This led in the German Reich to tensions because of the feared impairment of its economic interests in Morocco. On urge of realm chancellor Bernhard von emperor Wilhelm II. visited to 31. March 1905 demonstratively Tanger, in order to lend to the demand after a German say in Morocco, according to the Madrider convention of 1880, reproduction. In the Algeciras conference of 1906 the German Reich could prevent an actual assumption of the Moroccan markets by France, which valid treaty system would have contradicted; its isolation visibly became nevertheless, particularly since it had Morocco to the conference only behind itself. The relations between Great Britain and France continued to strengthen by this event.
