The Flensburger brewery Emil Petersen GmbH and CO. Kg is one in Flensburg resident, with its products Germany far well-known private brewery.

The enterprise was created on 6 September 1888 as "“Flensburger export brewery"”. Beside export beer the brewery produces today most diverse beers.

Under own mark

at present (2006) are offered:

• Flensburger Pilsener - after the north German variant of the Pilsner kind of brewing, in the comparison to the competition above average hop-harsh. Alcohol content of 4.8% volume.
• Flensburger gold - from the brewery likewise as beer after Pilsner kind designates, actually however a typical bright Lagerbier, alcohol content of 4.8 % volume.
• Flensburger darkness - dark beer, alcohol content of 4.8% volume.
• Flensburger wheat - wheat beer and as such rather atypical in the brewery-usual handle bottles available. Alcohol content of 5.1% volume.
• Flensburger winter support - seasonally available, easily dark support beer, alcohol content of 7.0% volume.
• Flensburger Malz - alcohol-free, calorie-poor Malzbier
• Flensburger free - alcohol-free bright beer
• Flensburger Radler - beer mixing beverage, alcohol content of 2.4% volume.

The mixing beverages Flensburger Energy and Flensburger Catch The Cat are not no more produced.

Different

Handle bottles

Despite comparatively high production costs the self-marks are filled up into classical handle bottles. Into the 1980er years inside the Flensburger brewery was the only one, these in former times generally usual and today again more common bottles still used.

Advertisement

One stylized the "“Ploppen"” when opening the handle bottles at that time to a registration number of the mark, which is until a today firm component of the radio and television commercial. In addition the advertisement kokettiert gladly with the north German mark origin, "“typically north German"” humor and Wortspielereien. Also after outbreak of the controversy with the publisher of the Werner Comics, settled meanwhile, one arranged particularly broadcast advertising gladly in support to the typical word joke of the Comics and on that based films.

Private property

Flensburger is one of only few country widely operating breweries, which does not belong to a large brewery company such as Interbrew or the Radeberger group, but is to a large extent in family estate.
