Anton Herman Gerard Fokker are designated the Fokker aircraft plants after their founder.
Anton Fokker produced during the First World War military aircraft in Schwerin From this work the famous Fokker Eindecker, the Dreidecker Fokker Dr. I (often brought with Manfred von Richthofen, the red baron in connection) and the Fokker D originates. VII, a type of aircraft also for its time so extraordinary achievement parameters that the allied ones imposed upon restrictions to him by special regulations in the Versailler contract.
In the year 1919 the Netherlands aircraft manufacturer Anton Herman Gerard Fokker from Germany turns back into the Netherlands and creates together with the family van Beuningen and Fentener van Vlissingen the hard coals of trade combination (SHV) as well as with some rich entrepreneurs on 21 July 1919 the Netherlands aircraft factory N.V. Nederland Vliegtuigenfabriek Fokker. Due to war history the name Fokker was carefully avoided.
Before the factory those were built resounding the ELTA, for the first aviation exhibition in Amsterdam, which was opened in the summer 1919. Apart from the advancement of the military aircraft Fokker was shifted also with success on the development of airliners. It was to be manufactured the first technical designer in the aircraft construction, which created it, the tubing trunk coat construction from welded smooth pipes.
On 30 December 1933 a crew with a Amsterdam Batavia put dreimotorigen Fokker back "pelican" and return flight on the post office air route in record time. 1936 had the enterprise in America 40 per cent market share. World-wide 54 airlines with the popular F-7a-3m von Fokker flew at the beginning of the thirties.
Also further military aircraft were developed further. It was however predominantly the single-engine hunt single-seater Fokker D.XXI, which was inserted at the beginning of the Second World War in the aerial combat against the Messerschmitt Messerschmitt BF 109. The Fokker G.I was hardly used, and not already the machines destroyed at the soil were later taken over of Luftwaffe than trainer aircraft.
After the Second World War the enterprise is further economically healthy. In the year 1956 the enterprise, which is called from now at Fokker, leads the Fokker F-27 Friendship - "friendship", certainly the flagship in the history of Fokker. The Netherlands government contributed 27 million guldens to development costs. The F-27 belonged world-wide to the usually sold turboprop aircraft. Up to running out production in the year 1986 Fokker set world-wide 786 pieces off of this type. The Netherlands military uses airplanes of this model until today.
In the year 1969 Fokker looked for co-operation with the German combined aerotechnical works GmbH (VFW) in Bremen. Co-operation remained however unsuccessful. The only product was the airplane VFW-614, by which 19 was sold. At the beginning of of 1980 was terminated co-operation.
In the year 1987 Fokker is economically already strongly fastened. Development costs for the new models Fokker 50 and Fokker 100 pile up gigantically. The government rises with 212 million guldens , with the edition that Fokker is to look for a strategic partner. The British Aerospace and Daimler Benz Aerospace AG is possible as bestgeeignete candidates. Fokker receives the king Willem I price in the year 1990 for good management and renewal. Prince Claus hands the price out at M. Kuilman, chairman of the management of Fokker. One year later communicates Fokker that a new '' F-70 is developed '' - type.
After negotiations for many years and difficult on 30 October 1992 a preliminary agreement between Fokker and the Daimler Benz Aerospace AG is signed. The problems thus cannot be repaired however. 1994 celebrate Fokker the firm anniversary. Proudly the new model F-70 is presented. In addition, the paragraph this model satisfied expectations and the problems do not increase.
The German nut/mother company Daimler Benz AG terminated on 22 January 1996 the negotiations and separates from Fokker. On 23 January 1996 in Amsterdam the provisional judicial supervision with respite for payment is introduced. To 15. March 1996 announces Fokker insolvency.
Parts of the enterprise remained existing however. The space travel department operates as independent enterprise until 2002 under the name Dutch space. The factories for airplane accessories and airplane service/repair are since 1996 part of the Stork of company.
