The Forensi Entomologie is a branch of the Forensik, with which due to the corpse settlement by insects referring to the corpse downtime, cause of death and death circumstances are collected.
The term Entomologie originates from the Greek and means "insect customer" = cut, notched, logos = customer, teachings). The term decreases/goes back to the Greek philosopher and founder of the natural sciences Aristoteles (384-322 v. Chr.). From it the term comes (= notching animal). The common German name "insect" goes on latin word insectus, which likewise means "cut" or "notched", back. Entomologie is equivalent to it to insect customer.
With the insects it acts usually around nekrophage insects as for instance the larvae of schmeissfliegen, or meat flies, different beetles like the carrion beetles (among other things the and the bacon beetle) as well as further kinds, which by the decaying (smell) materials to be tightened or however for their part of the nekrophagen insects nourish themselves.
One the most well-known German forensischen Entomologen is the Cologne Marks Benecke.
