Sir Francis Galton (* 16 February 1822 in Sparkbrook, Birmingham; " 17 January 1911 in Haslemere, Surrey) was a British natural scientist and writer. It was ennobled 1909 and was - like also its half cousin Charles Darwin - the grandchild of Erasmus Darwin.
During its entire life it wrote over 340 articles and books. By its versatility it made itself in different disciplines a name. It was active as geographer and Africa researchers, developed as a Meteoroligist among other things the first weather chart and concerned themselves with the leaving teachings, in particular with the transmission of intelligence and the talent, whereby its work Hereditary genius was noticed of 1869 in far parts of the intellectual world. According to statement of his friend Karl Pearson "the improvement of the human race" was its goal. In connection with its investigations it introduced different statistic methods, e.g. it coined/shaped the term involution 1889 with the study of the transmission and would use the term coefficient of correlation together with Pearson for the first time. In addition it created Forschungsgebiet and term of the Eugenik, is considered as a father of the Daktyloskopie, as a founder of the Differenzialpsychologie and - together with William Wundt (1832-1920) - the experimental psychology. Further he is developer and name giver of the Galtonbretts, a model for the demonstration of probability distributions, and the Galtonpfeife, an instrument for the production of extremely high tones.
