Francisco Ayala (* 1934 in Madrid, Spain) is a professor for biology and professor for philosophy at the University OF California, Irvine. He is a Genetiker, evolution biologist and philosopher. Its main points of research are:
- Investigation of DNA and protein sequences around history and the temporal operational sequence of the evolution to determine (molecular clock)
- Investigation of the population structure and evolution of parasitischen single-celled organisms, like the exciters of malaria and the Chagas illness
- Investigation of the gene regularization, evolution of pseudo genes, origin and evolution of Introns
- philosophical views over science (biology), ethics and religion
Ayala was a president "of the American Association for the Advancement OF Science' (AAAS). From 1994 to 2001 it was in "the Commitee OF Advisors on Science and Technology' of the American president. He is an author of more than 700 articles and 15 books.
Life
Francisco Ayala was born 1934 in Madrid, Spain). It studied at the university of Madrid, where it reached 1955 its B.S. conclusion. He worked on Drosophila, which increases so fast that it became the ideal investigation object of the Evolutionsgenetiker. Ayala studied also theology and 1960 to the priest was geweiht. 1960 it met Theodosius Dobzhansky. it went to 1961 into the USA and reached 1963 its M.A. and 1964 its PH.D to the Columbia University in New York. First he worked to the Rockefeller University in New York. 1971 it became US of American citizens.
It pulled with his Mrs. Hana and its children to California. There it (1971) accepted a professor place at the department OF Genetics at the University OF California, Davis. Its former teacher Theodosius Dobzhansky changed likewise to Davis. Here the books "Evolving", "Molecular evolution" and "decaying Genetics" developed. 1981 he was principal witness with court hearings (McLean vs. Arkansas board OF Education) in Arkansas, where it could around the position of the religion and the evolution in instruction (creationism - evolution theory). it changed 1987 to the department OF Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at the University OF California, Irvine, where also a professor place at the department OF Philosophy was offered to it. Here it could connect its interests in the religion, Metaphysik and philosophy with its scientific research. Here it researched also at Trypanosoma cruzi, the exciter of the Chagas illness. Since 1992 it was a member in president Clintons "Scientific Advisory Commitee". Of 1994 - 2001 he was a president of the American Academy OF kind & Sciences (AAAS).
