Fiddler work

Toward end of the 1940er years moved fiddlers the stress of characteristics and personal characteristics of superiors with certain styles of leadership and the behavior from superiors to the guidance research.

The performance curve as a function of individual discontent (so-called achievement bosom), developed by it, means that humans in absolute satisfaction and perfect need satisfaction do not feel an achievement-oriented benefit and with increasing discontent first a measurable increase in output to be registered are. Thus already the fear is sufficient to lose satisfaction, in order to obtain a certain readiness to perform. With far rising discontent the performance curve remains however linear over a longer rise of the personal discontent almost, while a very strongly minted discontent even works discouraging and thus performance-reducing. Only if the personal discontent rises so far the fact that feelings from panic and fear begin to dominate to rises the readiness to perform enormously on (power reserve), in order to break down with exceeding of the personal power limit abruptly and perfectly in itself.

According to statement of the ethics federation of the German economy (EVW registered association) the work helps to understand about fiddler the bad results of wrong personnel management many superiors to obtain those their coworkers in the intention a hoche increase in output without consideration for the coworker satisfaction toward its load limit (additional work, project responsibility, Kundenakquise) to bring and no increase in output to actually obtain. The observation that an increase of the personal discontent does not cause measurable achievement rise over wide ranges, has therefore as a consequence that the relative satisfaction of the coworker is ever continued to lower and the nondirectional additional charge without individual consideration of unused resources leads with the particular only to the demotivation.

The further increase in output due to the activation of power reserves of the coworker be based on the action motivation for survival and/or employment protection and is hardly guidable due to the close critical load (see chart). It leads on the basis of the realizations of fiddler with absolute discontent to the sudden and incalculable complete collapse of the operational maximum performance by over-strong discontent and/or fear or panic in the concrete work situation.

In addition fiddler found already 1953 out that effective teams consist of persons, who remain psychological on distance and only on the task to concentrate (so-called fiddler values). Team able a coworker however never is then only if he fights together with the colleagues against a problem, against humans. Therefore a coworker is exactly teamable if he solves a problem with others optimally if he cannot suffer the others at all (see emotional intelligence).

Rupert Lay developed from it large realizations to the team ability, after the this did not mean to have to be groupable or wash and wear. If necessary a certain adaptability is needed. Team ability is distinguished many more by interlaced data processing, setting free creativity (thus realistic thinking against rules) and the realization progress for the development of reality-close solutions.

Starting from end of the 1960er years to center of the 1980er years turned fiddler to the interests of line and eventuality models of the guidance. One the earliest and at the best well-known is its eventuality model of the guidance effectiveness. If 1967 publish as theory of the guidance effectiveness, the model directed immediately attention as the first guidance theory of operational coinage on itself, since it permitted the reciprocal effect between the guidance personality and situation control as prognosis to the guidance achievement.

Fiddler is world-wide well-known by its books, lectures and the management consultation. It received research grants and promises in its activity from numerous government agencies and private backers. It held research contacts at the university of Amsterdam from 1957 to 1958, at the university of Louvain in Belgium from 1963 to 1964 and in the Templeton University of, Oxford from 1986 to 1987. He worked as advisor for the agencies of the different and municipal administrations and private enterprises in the United States and outward.

Fiddler career lasts already more than fifty years. Even in the retirement it sets it away for humans to inspire for the research of guidance knowledge and related topics energize. It brought the eventuality theory to the guidance very early in its career into the scientific discussion and years spent to discuss it readily with its critics. Fiddler offers additional research and alternative explanations being based on its own investigations and the increasing field of knowledge.
