Frederick Chapman crawl in (* 25 August 1916 in Auburn, Alabama, the USA; "† 4 August 2003 in Cleveland, Ohio, the USA) was an US-American micro biologist and physician. It received the Nobelpreis for physiology or medicine to 1954.

Crawl in as a son of two Botanik professors William J. and Christine was born crawl in. It decided already early for the medicine and took up after its Highschool conclusion the study at the University OF Missouri. it received the Bachelor's Degree to 1938 and continued its studies to the Harvard Medical School. 1940 he was employed as a bacteriologist at the central child hospital in Boston. During 2. World war worked he in army services on the treatment of hepatitis, typhoid fever and Q-fever.

After its marriage with Alice Northrop it continued its work on the child hospital and pushed to the research group of John Franklin Enders and Thomas Huckle Weller, which itself with infections busy. Here one was able to produce cultures with the pole IO virus. This led to the creation of a vaccine for the child paralysis. But it received the Nobelpreis for medicine together with Enders and Weller 1954.

Up to its death on 4 August 2003 he worked as a professor (emeritus) for on the Western reserve University School OF Medicine (Cleveland).
