Frederik Jacobus Johannes Buytendijk (* 29 April 1887 in Breda, "† 21 October 1974 in Nimwegen), occasionally also written as F.J.J. Buijtendijk; Biologist, Anthropologe, psychologist and physiologist, one the founder of the psychological anthropology, are considered also as one of the ancestor gentlemen of the cybernetic anthropology.

The stations of the training, research and teachings Buytendijks were the universities of Amsterdam, Groningen, Utrecht, Neapel, Cambridge as well as Berlin, pouring, Bonn, Cologne and Basel. Importantly for its career/development particularly was the contact with Hans Driesch and max of Scheler as well as its pupils and the surrounding field, in itself the impulse of the with questions of the philosophical anthropology, for which shape theory and theoretical biology and the behavior research connected. With Helmuth Plessner it was friendly since 1918; some for both central of essays they wrote a thinking together (see below, literature). Into the 1920er years got used to itself it likewise with Viktor of and Victor Emil von Gebsattel. Buytendijk was since 1925 a professor for physiology at the Groninger university. While the crew of the Netherlands it was looked for of the Gestapo and had to submerge. After 1946 up to the retirement 1957 he was a professor for general psychology in Utrecht. Afterwards it received an extraordinary Professur for theoretical and comparative psychology in Nimwegen and a Gastprofessur for comparative psychology at the University of lion.
