Friedrich Albert von Zenker (* 13. March 1825 in Dresden; "† 13 June 1898 on the property Reppentin with Plau in Mecklenburg) was a physician and pathologist.

Career/development

After its study in Leipzig and Heidelberg (1843-1847) and its graduation 1851 in Leipzig it was first active as pro sector in Dresden. From 1853-1855 he was lecturer and afterwards professor in general pathology and pathological anatomy at the medical-surgical university of the city. 1863 he transferred the chair to attaining, where it was active with large success more as 30 years than researchers and teachers.

Discoveries

On 28 January 1860 Zenker discovered a Trichinose with a girl, who had died in a Dresden hospital. It proved with the fact as the first that Trichinen, which one had considered since center of the 80's of the century more or less harmless parasites could release serious, also deadly diseases and humans frequently struck.

After Zenker a Divertikel of the esophagus is designated.
