Friedrich Carl Adolf Neelsen (* 29. in Uetersen; "† 11 April 1894 in Dresden) was a German pathologist.

Life

Friedrich C.A. Neelsen came as a son deacon of the Hans Friedrich Neelsen and its wife Bertha Sophia, geb. in the Pastorat into Uetersen into the world. It visited later the rector school in Uetersen and continued to go on a High School into Altona. It studied medicine at the University of Leipzig, where it attained a doctorate with 22 years. Later it followed a call of the pathological institute of the University of Rostock. As a leading Chefarzt of the far away famous pathological institute of the University of Dresden Neelsen died on 11 April 1898.

Neelsen became only 44 years old. Its research for many years with dangerous bacteria became it the calamity finally. High-estimated at home and abroad scientist and physician were much human being-scrub man, who avoided the public, whenever he could only. But to to its end of life it maintained contacts to its father city.

Work

Together with the neurologist Franz Ziehl developed Neelsen a method, with which one can furnish the proof under the microscope over the presence of Tuberkelbakterien. Each medical student knows today "„the Ziehl Neelsen colouring "“for the staining of these exciters. After its innovative success one appointed it in the year 1884, it had become straight 30 years old, the extraordinary professor.
