Friedrich Moritz (* 10 December 1861 in Mainz; "† 12 January 1938 in Cologne), was a German physician and internalist.

Moritz was the son of the attorney and owner of brewery Johann Baptist Moritz. Its school time completed Moritz in its hometown in the years 1872 to 1874 and changed afterwards until 1874 to Koblenz. In Neuwied Moritz reached then 1880 the Abitur and began still in the same year at the University of Bonn law to study.

1889/81 carried as a one year's its military service for Moritz out in 53. Infantry regiment off. Equivalent afterwards, he began to study peppering castle medicine at the university. 1883 changed in the same subject to the University of Berlin, remained there until 1884 and went afterwards to Munich. There Moritz could terminate then 1885 its study with its thesis "“over the chemistry of the transudates and with the exudates"”; on 28 July 1885 it locked its graduation study with the note Summa cum laude. The license to practise medicine was given Moritz almost one year later, on 9 July 1886.

In the years 1886 to 1887 Moritz studied chemistry and became 1887 assistant of Professor Dr. Hugo von Ziemssen. In this time developed the first bases for its Habilitation, which Moritz then to 31. March 1890 reached.

Moritz introduced a course of the "“clinical Technizismen "“as a first physician into Germany and as a clinician the Punktion of the Kubitalvene. Effective 1 October 1920 been promoted Moritz to the vice-rector of the Cologne university and 1925 selected it the German society for internal medicine as its chairman.

On the occasion of its 74. Birthday appointed it 1935 the city Cologne their appointment as the honour citizen.

At the age of 76 years Professor Dr. Friedrich Moritz died on 12 January 1938 in Cologne.

In the year 66. Day of death, archives of the Cologne university honoured Professor Moritz with an intending exhibition (14. - 16 October 2004).
