Friedrich of Wendt (* 28 September 1738 in Sorau; " 7. May 1808 in attaining) was a German physician.
With 20 years Wendt at the university registered resounds (Saale) for the subject medicine. Later it changed to Goettingen, where it locked 1762 successfully its study with its thesis.
Subsequently, it established itself as a practical physician in Genthin with Magdeburg. After some years Wendt was promoted to the Stadtphysicus of Pless (Upper Silesia). From here engaged it the prince of notion as a body physician.
1778 it accepted a call to the University of attaining and worked there as a professor for medicine customer. There it supported much modern medical supply. In its Erlanger private dwelling Wendt "a Collegium based clinicum ", in which its students were allowed to examine and treat ambulatory under his supervision patient.
Around 1780 with support of the university this Collegium was converted into "a Institutum Clinicum ", which Wendt up to its end of life led.
Since longer Wendt was already member of the Leopoldina (German academy of the natural scientists). As 1810 its ninth president, the Botaniker Johann Christian Daniel of Schreber, died selected one 1811 Wendt to his successor. As such he selected himself the society name Diocles Carystius IV. and held this office until 1818.
In this year Wendt all offices gave up and withdrew themselves into the private life. At the age of 70 years died Friedrich of Wendt to 7. May 1808 in attaining.
