Dr. Friedrich William Hemprich (* 24. June 1796 in Glatz; "† 30 June 1825 in Massawa, Eritrea) was a German natural scientist, zoologist and a physician.

Hemprich studied medicine in Breslau and Berlin. In Berlin it got used to itself with Christian Gottfried honour mountain (1795-1876), which, as Hemprich possessed, likewise a large interest in natural history. In the year 1820/21 both by Martin light stone (1780-1857) on an expedition to Egypt were invited, which they should support as natural scientists. The journey went from Cairo to Derna. On a second expedition of 1821-25 they traveled the Nile along to the south, crossed the desert Sinai and Lebanon and bereisten the Red Sea. On the way they collected nature-historical samples. Hemprich died in the port of Massawa at fever.
