The term coworker capacity (MAK) or English Full Time Equivalent designates a reference value correspondence), which is used in the personnel management. In the German language the word full-time worker or full strength, in addition, man-day (e) is used /Personentag (e) or also MAK (coworker capacities).

FTE expresses the current value, some full time (100% rate of utilisation) worker within a comparable period furnishes (day, week, month, year). A worker, who is contractually to 8 hours daytime work time obligated, therefore furnishes in one day 8 hours, in the week 40 hours, etc. work.

A team of workers often consists of personnel resources with different rate of utilisation. In order to express the temporal work, the reference value FTE arrives at application. 2 resources with 50% rate of utilisation result in the work of 1 FTE.

The expression FTE forms thus an established and standardized comparison value (indicator for the Benchmarking).
