Professor Dr. med. Gabriel Anton (* 28 July 1858 in Saaz in "† 3 January 1933 in resounded), was a Austrian neurologist and psychiatrist.

After the school attendance in Saaz and Prague, the son of a building master in Prague and Vienna studied and 1882 in Graz to the Dr. med. was attained a doctorate. Scientific achievement

Since 1893 had been concerned intensively Anton with the role of the basal ganglia with choreatischen movement disturbances. It described the case of the Cassian H. with Choreoathetose and assumed as a cause an isolated change in the Striatum. With consideration of the clinical symptomatology and the neuropathological findings he assumed that complex cooperating of the basal ganglia had to be disturbed. He concluded that by omission the necessary condition for an arranged course of motion was missing to the movement inhibition and - due to being present an intact pyramid course - the presence of extrapyramidaler fiber courses.

In his work connected Anton brain pathology with psychology and inspired among other things his assistant in Graz, Otto large, to several work in this area.
