Gauloises (frz.: Gallier) is the label name for cigarettes of the British American Tobacco (ASKED), the world-wide second largest tobacco company. The market share of the mark in Germany amounts to 6.1 %. With the name of the mark just like in the advertisement is tried to mediate "typically a French" to image. Beside the classical Gauloises blue (strong) and Gauloises red (means) one receives also Gauloises yellow (easy), to Gauloises white (ultralight) as well as a fine cut variant to cigarette tricks.
Those ASKED has in Germany a market share of 23,6 %. Gauloises is with 6,1 % the largest mark of ASKED before Lucky Strike with 5,6 %. (Conditions 2005).
Long time were well-known Gauloises for their dark, strong tobacco, in addition the strength of the smoke by the corn paper with that the cigarettes turned were again intensified. Thus Gauloises were called of some "unrauchbar". Later the typically French tobacco was replaced by bright Virginia tobacco, with which substantially fewer pollutants develop - the Gauloises blond was born. However further "genuine" Gauloises is sold. They carry now the name additive Brunes, however these no more are not manufactured with corn paper.
