George W. Kreutzberg (* 9 February 1932 in Ahrweiler) is a German neuro physiologist. Professor Kreutzberg was a director of many years institute for Max-Planck for neuro biology.
George Kreutzberg studied medicine, later with emphasis neuropathlogy at the Rheini Friedrich William university Bonn, Albert Ludwig university Freiburg, medical University of Innsbruck and University of Vienna. In Bonn it became member of the catholic student connection K.D.St.V. Ripuaria Bonn in the CV, later also the K.D.St.V. Ripuaria Freiburg in mash gau. it was attained a doctorate to 1961 in Freiburg. After activities as a scientific assistant and post office Doc stays at the institute for Max-Planck for psychiatry in Munich, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (WITH) in Cambridge (Massachusetts) as well as to the Rockefeller University in New York town center. 1971 it habilitierte in neuropathlogy to DOES Munich.
1977 received a call to Kreutzberg on an unscheduled Professur for neuropathlogy to the medical faculty of the technical University of Munich. 1978 it became scientific member institute for Max-Planck for psychiatry in Munich and was there 21 years long member of the board as well as from 1985 to 1995 director of the institute for Max-Planck for theoretical psychiatry in Martinsried with Munich, the today's MPI for neuro biology. 2000 were emeritiert Kreutzberg, are however further active as Emeritus.
Between 1981 and 1985 he managed the German society for cell biology (DGZ) as a president, from 1994 to 1997 that internationally Society OF Neuropathology and from 1997 to 2000 the German Neurowissenchaftliche society. 1991 to 1998 were George Kreutzberg Initator, joint founder and director of the European European Initative for Communicators OF Science (EICOS). It is member of numerous national and international research establishments.
As a neuro physiologist it researches at the repair mechanisms of nerves and examines the growth factors hurt peripheral Motoneuronen. That happens before the window blind of the central nervous system in the brain, which depending upon requirement whole work zones shift as a substitute and if necessary certain functions can switch on and off.
