George of (* 3. June 1899 in Budapest as Bksy; "† 13 June 1972 in Honolulu, Hawaii) was an Hungarian-US-American physicist and physiologist.

created a hearing theory, which considered the then new realizations over the anatomical structure of the interior ear and thus the Helmholtz' conception of the swinging hearing strings (resonance hypothesis) replaced. Instead the transient wave theory in such a way specified from in the meantime which must be not sufficiently regarded today however as (see English article, postulated) and of a new cellular amplifier theory (Cochlear Amplifier) was supplemented.

1940 were appointed by as the professor at the University of Budapest, worked however after 1947 in the USA, last in Hawaii. 1961 he received the Nobelpreis for medicine for his innovative work for the theory of the human hearing.
