Gerhard Johannes Paul Domagk (* 30 October 1895 in Lagow, Brandenburg; " 24 April 1964 in king field in the Black Forest) was a German pathologist and bacteriologist.
It introduced the Sulfonamide to the chemotherapy of the bacterial infections and developed effective Tuberkulostatika. For the discovery of the antibacterial effect of the Prontosils (a sulfone amide) it received the Nobelpreis for medicine, whose acceptance was first not possible for it due to a general prohibition issued by Hitler to 1939. Beside innumerable further honors during lifetimes in the meantime also roads are designated after it in Hanover, Ludwigshafen, Dormagen, Bonn, Munich, Vlotho, Lindau, Leverkusen and king field in the Black Forest (local part castle mountain).
