The German liberty transmitter 904 (DFS 904) was installed 1956 of the GDR at the same time with the prohibition of the KPD in the Federal Republic of Germany as on medium wave. Of the GDR financed and organized propaganda transmitter called myself "“German liberty transmitter 904"” and recruited with the Slogan "“the only transmitter of the Federal Republic, for which under government control does not stand"”. The program was produced under conspiratorial circumstances in east Berlin. The transmitter radiating into the Federal Republic stood in Reesen with castle.

First director of the DFS 904 was the director/conductor of the department of agitation of the ZK of the SED Rudolf Singer. In addition as sister transmitter worked the German soldier transmitter, which addressed itself to the members of the German Federal Armed Forces. 1973 were adjusted the enterprise of both secret transmitters after the signing of the basis-of-relations treaty between the FRG and the GDR.
