The German society for Kardiologie, shortened DGK, is a German scientifically medical specialized company. Their full name is German society for Kardiologie - heart and cycle research registered association (German Cardiac Society). It is member of the working group of the scientific medical specialized companies (AWMF), the European Society OF Cardiology (ESC) and the World Heart Federation (WHF).

History

The today's DGK was created on 6 June 1927 on initiative of the professors B. Kisch (Cologne) and A. Weber (bath Nauheim), at that time under the name German society for cycle research. From 1928 to 1941 she organized annual kardiologische congresses at changing places.

After the Second World War the society under the name organized German society for heart and cycle research since 1949 again annual congresses, that are accomplished traditionally in the week after Easter until 1982 in bath Nauheim and since 1983 in the rose garden in Mannheim. Since 1974 are organized an additional autumn conference at changing places. 1994 gave itself the society their current name.

Members

All physicians as well as scientists, who are concerned with heart and cycle research, can be tidy members of the DGK. At the end of of 2005 had it 5721 members, of it was 15 % womanlike.
