The Germany radio (DLR and/or DRadio) produces the two national radio broadcasting programs Germany radio culture (radio house Berlin) and Deutschlandfunk (radio house Cologne).

It is a body of the public right with seat in Cologne and Berlin. Director is since its establishment 1994 Ernst Elitz.

History

The body of the public right Germany radio, until March 2005 Germany radio written, was established to 1 January 1994 by a convention of all 16 Lands of the Federal Republic of the Federal Republic of Germany. The convention regulates that in Berlin and Cologne a national German-language radio broadcasting program is produced in each case. The members of the body are the Second Channel of German Television and the broadcasting corporations of the pool of broadcasting corporations. The programs are advertising-free and from the broadcast fees are financed.

The culture program is called Germany radio culture (DLR culture and/or DKultur). It was created 1994 under the name "„Germany radio Berlin "“together with the DLR. DLR Berlin came out from the former West-Berliner transmitter RIAS 1 and the Ost-Berliner transmitter DS culture. To 7. March 2005 was renamed Germany radio Berlin in the course of a program reform in Germany radio culture.

The information program is called Deutschlandfunk (DLF). It is the successor of the radio broadcasting program of the same name, which was radiated until 1993 by the independent broadcasting corporation Deutschlandfunk (seat in Cologne), existing up to then. (The 1994 with the establishment of the DLR fixed name did not intersperse itself Germany radio Cologne.)

In connection with renaming citizen of Berlin the program decided the Germany radio that "“the use of the body and the will step in the future strongly into the background"”.

Organs

The line of the Germany radio is incumbent on the director, who is selected by the radio advice for one term of office of five years. To the radio advice (in other broadcasting corporations this committee broadcast council is called) representative of all Lands of the Federal Republic, as well as representatives of the regional organizations and socially relevant groups belong. It is quasi the parliament of the body DLR. Besides it gives as control organ of the director, who board of directors, that consists of three representatives of the countries, one representative of the federation and in each case two representatives of pool of broadcasting corporations and Second Channel of German Television.

Ochestra Germany radio

The Germany radio does not have own ochestras. It is however chief partner since 1 January 1994 the existing broadcast orchestra and choirs GmbH. This is carrier of the following music combinations:

  • Broadcast symphony orchestra Berlin (PUCB)
  • German symphony orchestra Berlin (DSO)
  • Broadcast choir Berlin
  • RIAS chamber choir

Transmitting plants

The two programs from Berlin and Cologne are radiated over UKW, medium wave (Germany radio culture also in the DRM mode) and long wave (DLR culture only in the DRM mode between 2 and 5 o'clock at night), over a short wave transmitter in Berlin as well as similar to and digitally over the branch RA satellite system. In addition they are to be received over DAB and cable.

The transmitting plants for the spreading of the programs of the Germany radio belong predominantly to the German Telekom AG. Only the transmitter for the spreading of the program of Germany radio in Berlin Britz on medium wave, short wave and UKW is property of the Germany radio.
